Celebrating our "Good" CQC Rating for Alexandra House

Updated: Dec 16, 2020

We are absolutely delighted to share the news that we have received a Good rating in all areas following a recent CQC Inspection at our residential care home Alexandra House.

CQC or the Care Quality Commission are the independent regulator of all care providers within England. We have had a rating of Requires Improvement for many years and the Inspection on 20th and 21st November identified many improvements in the service. This transformation has been made possible because of the hard work and dedication of the staff team at Alexandra House and Head Office and the excellent leadership of Zoe Richardson, Susan James (Manager) and Hayley Walsh (Care Coordinator).

The full report should be available on our website in the coming weeks and a copies are available at Head Office, but here is a summary:

“People were cared for safely and protected from the risk of potential harm as staff knew what to do and how to report any concerns. People's risks to their health had been continually assessed and recorded to show how their care can be delivered without further risk. There were enough staff to supported people with medication, personal care and activities of daily living. The home was clean and people were protected from the risk of infection….. Staff looked after

people with kindness and had the knowledge to deliver a personalised service. Staff encouraged people to remain independent and were considerate not to take over or rush people. People were able to spend time quietly or with the company of staff who consider their privacy and dignity…. a change in the management structure since our last inspection had led to improvements in governance and staffing Alexandra House. The provider worked closely with the registered manager and a clear ongoing review and improvement plan was in place.”

We now have a Good rating across all care services at the Trust and we continue to strive for improvements and to develop our care services so we can help more people.
