SJMT becomes a signatory of the Care Leaver Covenant

SJMT was thrilled to become a signatory of the Care Leaver Covenant in February 2021. The Covenant is a National scheme funded by the Department for Education which enables organisations to make a commitment to provide additional support to young people leaving care; making available a different type of support and expertise from that statutorily provided by local authorities. The Covenant believes that organisations are able to draw on their resourcefulness and imagination of their staff and their working environment, offering new perspectives and professional expertise that can aid care leavers in moving forward successfully to the next phase of their lives.

SJMT has a one hundred year history or providing supporting for children and young people in our orphanage and to those that left us to live independent lives. We are also exploring how we can support young people once again in the future, particularly those that are care experienced. We will share more about this on our website over the next 12 months.

As of March 2021, our offer is to promote apprenticeships and work experience placements to care leavers. SJMT is experienced and well placed to do this type of support.
