Welcome to our New Catering         services Manager

We would like to welcome our new Catering Services Manager Natalie Walters. Natalie has a wide range of experience in the catering industry and we are excited to have her join SJMT to lead some exciting changes within our Catering Department.

At SJMT we believe in delicious home-cooked food, attentive service, and an understanding of what each resident enjoys. We are proud to offer our residents a range of quality, delicious healthy meals, using our in depth knowledge of nutrition for older people.

As well as three meals a day our dining room menu evolves with the changing seasons and tastes for our residents. From the fresh, locally sourced ingredients and nutritional balance to the attractive presentation, we are there to listen and make sure that each meal feels like something special.

We give a lot of thought to the dining experience of the residents who are living with us and take a particular care of those with dementia.  When needed we use high-rimmed crockery and tablecloths in contrasting colours, to enhance the experience of those residents with dementia. We provide cutlery that’s designed to enable residents who may experience impaired dexterity to eat independently and continue to enjoy their food.

We keep noise and bustle to a minimum, avoiding any distractions that may be off-putting. Mealtimes are kept as relaxing as possible so that residents can enjoy their meal and eat at their own pace.  It is common to have music in the background – the residents are particularly keen on the hits of the 1940’s and the staff will always join in with a sing song!

“Since starting at SJMT I have been delighted to be part of a great team, we cater for over 55 rooms, and constantly strive to develop new ideas and better ways for the residents to experience their mealtimes here.  I am very excited for the developments in my department in the coming months and I am looking forward to offer takeaways and wider options to all our residents at SJMT not just those in our care facilities.”

Look out for some new projects coming soon.
