Award for ‘Excellence & Inspiration'
Yesterday was another reason for Sir Josiah Mason to celebrate. Our Chief Executive David Healey was presented with an Award for ‘Excellence & Inspiration’ in recognition of our work with three neighbouring Almshouse charities in developing and delivering a Residents Scrutiny Panel.
David and our Director of Operations Zoe Richardson attended the first ever annual members Day Conference
of the Almshouse Association in the beautiful Haberdashers Hall in London. Over 200 representatives from Almshouse charities attended the event which featured talks from Jon Sparkes, CEO of charity Crisis and
General Mike Jackson GCB, CBE, DSO, DL.
The Patron of the Association HRH Prince Charles also sent a personal message to members sending his best
wishes and recognising the valuable role Almshouses play in 21st Century Britain.
The Residents Scrutiny panel was launched in 2018 and brings together residents from Sir Josiah Mason Trust
and local Almshouse charities Yardley Great Trust, Harbourne Parish Lands and Lench’s Trust to create a new
way of involving residents in improving the services we provide to our residents. Our first topic explored the
Complaints Procedures and Processes of the Charities and will lead to improvements later this year.
